The journal accepts papers in Italian, English and all Slavic languages.
Each issue may contain the following sections:
(1) Monographic section – with an annual Call for Papers, entrusted to editors who are experts in a specific field. It intends to be a workshop in emerging new methodologies, open questions of history, theory of culture and literature, comparative Slavic studies and interdisciplinarity;
(2) Miscellaneous section – open to free proposals related to the journal’s interests;
(3) Focus section – a small number of papers on a particularly topical issue (max. 4);
(4) Translation section – dedicated to a specific line of research that has animated the critical debate in one or more Slavic countries and has not, however, found wide reception by the Italian public. The translation projects of “eSamizdat”, entrusted to expert curators in the field, aim to make the knowledge produced in the Slavic context accessible to scholars of other areas and disciplines;
(5) Interviews – scholars, intellectuals or artists from Slavic countries in dialogue with the editorial team. The interviews may take place in three formats: a) 3-4 specialists discuss a status quaestionis; b) an established scholar reviews their activity and research methods; c) one or more new books of international importance are reviewed through a conversation with their Authors;
(6) Ankety – a space for self-reflection on the methods, objectives and tools of Slavic studies;
(7) Voices – with memories and anniversaries related to Slavic cultures.
Submissions will initially be assigned to a member of the journal’s editorial committee or to the editors of a thematic section. If considered suitable for further reviews, the manuscripts will be sent to two external referees with relevant expertise in the authors’ field. Since the journal adopts a policy of double-blind peer review, the anonymity of both authors and referees will be strictly maintained. The final decision in the case of discordant evaluations rests with the editors of “eSamizdat“, who must comply with the editorial and ethical standards of the journal. Once the editing process has been finalized, no major changes will be allowed. Therefore, authors are required to conform the article to the journal editorial guidelines before submitting it. Articles which do not follow the guidelines will not be considered for review. Before publication, authors will receive the galley proofs of their article in order to check the copy-edited manuscript and correct potential formatting errors.
“eSamizdat“ accepts only articles which have not been previously published. However, in selected cases, the editors may consider to include translations of seminal studies in a specific monographic section.
Authors are kindly asked not to submit their proposal to another journal or a collective monograph, before receiving the final outcome from the referees.
Paper proposals, presented in the form that the author considers definitive, should be submitted for evaluation in .doc or .docx format at the following address: esamizdat@esamizdat.it.
