Author Biography
Ilya Utekhin is Associate Professor in the Department of Liberal Arts and Sciences at St. Petersburg
University, Russia. Since 1996, he has also held the position of Associate Professor at the Department of Ethnology/Department of Anthropology at the European University at St. Petersburg. He has previously taught at the University of Helsinki (Finland), Institutum Studiorum Humanitatis (Slovenia), University Paris IV-la Sorbonne (France), University of St. Quentin-en-Yveline (France), American University at Prague (Czech Republic), and the Center for Independent Sociological Research (Russia). He received his PhD in Anthropology from the Institute of Anthropology and Ethnology, Russian Academy of Sciences in Moscow in 2001. He is author of a monographic anthropological study of Soviet urban housing, studies in the field of talk-in- interaction and in visual anthropology. His interest to the anthropological study of human-computer interaction has embodied itself in a start-up: since 2017 he leads the development of an alternative news aggregator ONO Media Scope and also works with users’ materials from Instagram.
