Author Biography
Iya Kiva is a poet, a translator and a journalist. Because of the Russian-Ukrainian War she was forced to flee her native Doneck. She writes in Russian and Ukrainian, and her poems have been translated into fifteen languages. She’s the author of two books of poetry, Podal’she ot raja [A Little Further from Heaven, 2018] and Persha storinka zymy [First Page of Winter, 2019, in Ukrainian], as well as of a book of interviews with living Belarusian intellectuals titled My prokynemos’ inshymy: rozmovy z suchasnymy bilorus’kymy pys’mennykamy pro mynule, teperishnje i majbutnje Bilorusi [We Will Wake up Different: Conversations with Contemporary Belarusian Writers about the Past, Present and Future of Belarus, 2021, in Ukrainian]. In 2021 she was a recipient of the Gaude Polonia scholarship programme of the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage of Poland.
