Biografia autore
Karol Irzykowski (1873-1944) was a Polish author, literary critic, and film theoretician. He wrote essays (Czyn i słowo – Action and Word, 1913; Słoń wśród porcelany – The Elephant Among Porcelain, 1934), a groundbreaking avant-garde novel, Pałuba (1907), and the short story collections Nowele (1906) and Z pod ciemnej gwiazdy (Under the Dark Star, 1922). His work Walka o treść (The Struggle for Content, 1929) reflects the influence of Benedetto Croce. He collaborated with literary journals such as “Skamander” and “Wiadomości Literackie”, and from 1921 to 1933 contributed to “Robotnik”. During the Second Polish Republic, between 1933 and 1939, he became a member of the Polish Academy of Literature.
