Neira Merčep, “Queer Zagreb Festival and Croatian Queer Literature”, pp. 167-181 [Abstract]
The article tells about Queer Zagreb Festival’s history, a multimedia project that links the practical to the Croatian queer theory, from the beginning to its consolidation on the Croatian cultural scene. Since 2003, year of the first edition, until today, the festival invited many participants in order to increase awareness of the homosexual movement in Croatia. Those participations are kept active in Zagreb during the whole year even after the festival, through movies, exhibitions and awareness campaigns. Nevertheless, the most important festival’s achievement, which represents also the subject of my dossier, is the literary production that brings together writers and activists from Croatia, Serbia, Montenegro and Bosnia-Erzegovina through literary contests and book presentations. In the article both the festival and books published are put in relation to the Croatian society.
