Ugo Persi is full professor of Russian Language and Literature at the Department of Foreign Languages, Literatures and Cultures at the University of Bergamo. He is the author of: La parola in Liberty. Literary Modern Style between Russia and the West (Milan, 1989) and Crossing Sounds. Poets and Musicians in Romantic Russia (Viareggio, 1999). Both works were also published in Russia (Moscow, 2003, 2007). He is the editor, among others, of the collections of studies: Italy, Russia and Surroundings. Small Typological Review of Traveling (Bari, 2013); Russian Province: Pro et Contra (Belgorod, 2017); The Artistic Text: Cultural Tradition and Multimedial Reality (Belgorod, 2017). He is also the author of more than hundred articles and studies published mainly abroad. His main research fields are: literature, music and figurative arts in the nineteenth century; Russian Symbolism; specificity of the Russian cultural territory.
